This presentation was made in July 2006 to the automotive electrionic subassemblies industry trying to understand the value of energy storage devices consumed in hybrid electric vehicles. This presentation focuses on the DC link energy storage capacitor that is mounted on the DC motor assembly of all HEV models (Toyota, Honda, Ford, etc.,) and is a fundamental requirement of hybrid fuel/electric designs going back to the diesel electric foundations of the modern PriusĀ® and CivicĀ® advanced hybrid systems.
