This study looks at the emerging market for niobium-oxide capacitors, which are an electroceramic approach to an electrolytic solution. Available in abundance more than tantalum, niobium is often less expensive than its tantalum counterpart. It is also a safe device, much safer than an MN02 tantalum or a polymer tantalum. The report shows the development of the product line based upon voltage and capacitance value; and its acceptance in Taiwan motherboard and related markets because of its non-ignition characteristics. The study also outlines the massive ramp up in production for these devices in Europe in 2005, with forecasts to 2010.
