The AMP-ULTREX Interconnection System consists of a spring header assembly for board mounting. The male spring contact (with solder-dipped post) is mounted over a ridge and molded in the header housing. It provides the connector with protection against contact deformation. The design of the post and housing prevents solder wicking and flux contamination of the contact area during the soldering process and is available in both vertical and horizontal styles. AMP Lattice Connectors were originally developed for use with the primary power supply and as such they utilize contacts made of highly conductive material. As a result, despite their small size, these connectors can accommodate high current up to 12A. They can also be used in fractional current (signal circuit) applications. The lattice connectors fulfill the need for carrying fractional and high current using only one type of contact. Mating between the cap and plug connectors can be accomplished with a one-touch lock, giving positive and good feeling. The dust cover, fits to the mating section of the cap connector when not in use, protects it from contamination by dust. ( more info )
