Vishay released the industry’s first surface-mount aluminum capacitors that combine an ultra-low impedance down to 0.035Ω for better filtering with high ripple current to 1.75 A for higher reliability, while offering more process flexibility by meeting the rigorous IPC/JEDEC J-STD-020 soldering standard for severe reflow conditions.

The 146 CTI capacitors offer the most severe reflow soldering profile available in eight case sizes, ranging from 10 mm by 10 mm by 10 mm to the larger 18 mm by 18 mm by 21 mm. These devices provide high-temperature performance to +125°C, impedance from 0.035Ω to 0.430Ω at 100 kHz and +20°C, ripple currents from 400 mA to 1,750 mA at 100 kHz and +125°C, and a long useful life to 6,000 hours at ±125°C.

As polarized aluminum electrolytic capacitors with a non-solid, self-healing electrolyte, the AEC-Q200-qualified devices are ideally suited for filtering, smoothing, buffering, and voltage decoupling applications. Typical end products will include automotive power trains and chassis electronics; industrial drives, automation, and equipment for renewable energy; and SMPS units.

The RoHS-compliant 146 CTI capacitors are charge- and discharge-proof, so there is no peak current limitation. For vibration-proof performance, the devices are offered in 4-pin and 6-pin versions.
