Panasonic Electric Works (Aromat) High Frequency Relays

Panasonic Electric Works High Frequency RelaysExcellent isolation is achieved with Panasonic Electric Works (formerly Aromat) high frequency relays with the construction of a contact area enclosed by a metal shield. Contact material is selected to minimize insertion loss and maintain signal integrity. Panasonic Electric Works' high frequency relays include:
  • ARJ - Excellent high frequency characteristics up to 8GHz
  • ARA - 1GHz relay designed for measurement instruments
  • ARE - 2.6GHz capability with impedance selection
  • ARD - Coaxial switch characterized up to 26.5GHz
  • ARS - 500MHz relay for modern applications

ARJ Series:

  • High performance relay with metal case and oustanding characteristics 8GHz.Superior insertion loss values to reduce signal loss and high isolation between open contacts and contact sets make this ideal for critical applications such as attenuator circuit, IC/memory testers. Attenuator circuits are incorporate inside test and measuring instruments to change the amplitude of the signals which are to be measured. They are also featured in instruments such as oscilloscopes which measure signals over a wide range.

ARA Series:

  • Contact reliability is a main feature of this relay with an expected life of 10 million operations. ARA is ideal for instrumentation applications up to 1GHz that specify a high electrical life rating such as the calibration circuit and the attenuator circuit in oscilloscope.

ARE Series:

  • Selection of characteristic impedance makes this a versatile choice for a wide vareity of applications, 75Ω impedance for digital broadcasting and set top box market, and 50Ω for wireless devices and antenna switching. Bypass switches allow signals to flow to the circuit element when the contact is OFF, and when the contact is ON to bypass (or pass through) the element. In a digital set top box this determines whether the signal will pass through a video signal processor.

ARD Series:

  • Coaxial switch with high frequency characteristics minimizes signal loss and crosstalk. Low power consumption offers energy conservations with nominal operating power of 840mW. The ARD is perfect for redundancy circuit for amplifier switching in wireless communication. Redundant circuits are used in critical products and equipment incorporating a system that makes it possible to switchover to a spare circuit if the main circuit should fail or experience trouble. In the case of base stations for cell phones, redundant circuits are generally provided depending on the design concepts of the manufacturer.

ARS Series:

  • In order to meet the high requirements of modern applications, Panasonic Electric Works has now introduced the new RS (ARS) relay. At only 14mm x 8.6mm x 7mm, it complies with the omnipresent demand to reduce the size of components. Compared to conventional relays in the 1 to 3GHz class, the RS (ARS) relay’s size has been reduced by 60%. Thus, it is one of the smallest relays of its class on the market. Nevertheless, the RS (ARS) relay does provide a switching capacity of 1W at 3GHz and can carry 10W at 3GHz over the closed contact.

Currently the relay is available as a 75 Ohm version. A reversed contact type and a silent type with only 30dB operation noise are also available. A polarized magnet system means single side stable or latching switching behavior with low coil power consumption (200mW or 400mW) while high contact forces positively influence the relay’s contact resistance and reliability. All in all, the RS (ARS) is ideally suited to meet your modern high frequency application’s demands.
