Vishay Intertechnology, Inc.recently released its new TANTAMOUNT® HI-REL COTS T95 series solid tantalum chip capacitors. These capacitors offer high-reliability screening and surge current testing options.
Designed for safety-critical avionics and military applications such as radar and weapon systems, the new T95 capacitors offer designers a wide array of ratings not found in available MIL specifications, providing the flexibility and convenience of a commercial product without the need for costly and time-consuming specification development.
The conformal-coated capacitors offer high-reliability screening options including Weibull grading, and surge current testing options in accordance with MIL-PRF-55365 in a wide variety of castes. This differentiates these capacitors from commercial grade capacitors by featuring the required reliability and surge screening options necessary to ensure performance in hi-rel applications while still maintaining a maximum capacitance-voltage product, a figure of merit that measures the amount of energy a capacitor can store, and helps designers choose the best capacitor for their applications.
The T95 series have a capacitance range of 0.1µF to 680µF and a voltage range from 4V to 50V. They offer the option of low ESR values, which extend down to 0.055Ω at +25℃ and 100kHz. The T95 series operates over a temperature range of -55℃ to +125℃.
With extended capacitance and voltage values, coupled with reliability, surge current, and ESR options, make the T95 tantalum capacitors a flexible solution in demanding applications where the cost of failure is high. The T95 will additionally reduce costs and time to market by eliminating the need for customer drawings, source control drawings, or special part numbers.
The surface mount T95 capacitors are available in standard EIA tape-and-reel packages and feature standard Sn/Pb terminations, with 100% tin terminations available.
