KEMET Evox Rifa Surface Mount Paper/Film Capacitors consist of one of four metallized materials; Polyester (PET), Polyethylene Naphthalate (PEN), Polyphenylene Sulphide (PPS), and Impregnated Paper.  KEMET Evox Rifa PEN film capacitors are made of high temperature polyester and have a high dielectric constant with a high dielectric strength that provides good volymeric efficiency for metallized construction.  KEMET Evox Rifa capacitors are available in thin film, while still maintaining a high melting point allowing SMD construction and service in high ambient temperature applications; a great general purpose capacitor.  KEMET Evox Rifa Capacitors use a metallized polyethylene naphthalate (PEN) film that exhibits excellent characteristics for bypassing, signal coupling, and filtering applications.

Capacitor Construction:
KEMET Evox Rifa Polyethylene Naphthalate (PEN) film capacitor for surface mounting uses a metallized polyethylene naphthalate (PEN) as the electrode. KEMET Evox Rifa capacitors then use a clear PEN as dielectric, with a rugged box encapsulating it in self-extinguishing material that meets the requirements of the UL 94V-0.

Recommended Soldering Conditions:
KEMET Evox Rifa recommends reflow soldering on the top body surface of the capacitors only.  Preheating the KEMET Evox Rifa capacitor should not exceed 170°C.  The time in which the KEMET Evox Rifa capacitors are above 217°C should be limited to less than 50 seconds, with the peak temperature during the process never exceeding 240°C.
