KEMET Evox Rifa Surface Mount Paper/Film Capacitors consist of one of four metallized materials; Polyester (PET), Polyethylene Naphthalate (PEN), Polyphenylene Sulphide (PPS), and Impregnated Paper.  KEMET Evox Rifa PPS film capacitors have low losses and a wide operating temperature range.  KEMET Evox Rifa PPS film capacitors exhibit a low temperature coefficient and good stability compared to other dielectrics.  KEMET Evox Rifa PPS capacitors are typically used in timers and filters, automotive and other applications in high ambient temperatures.  PPS pplications also include high frequency coupling, decoupling and general high speed applications requiring high dU/dt, such as pulse operation in SMPS and snubber applications.

Capacitor Construction:
KEMET Evox Rifa Polyphenylene Sulphide (PPS) film capacitor for surface mounting uses a double sided metallized polyphenylene sulphide (PPS) film as the electrode with a plain PPS as the dielectric.  Encapsulated in a rugged box made of self-extinguishing material that meets the requirements of the UL 94V-0.

Recommended Soldering Conditions:
KEMET Evox Rifa recommends reflow soldering on the top body surface of the capacitors only.  Preheating the KEMET Evox Rifa capacitor should not exceed 170°C.  The time in which the KEMET Evox Rifa capacitors are above 217°C should be limited to less than 50 seconds, with the peak temperature during the process never exceeding 240°C.
