Fort Worth, Texas – May 21, 2020 – TTI, Inc., a leading specialty distributor of electronic components, has stock of Littelfuse high-speed power fuses that protect semiconductors from overcurrent that may cause damage to equipment.  Also referred to as “semiconductor fuses”, these fuses have a specially designed element profile and body construction to offer all the necessary short-circuit characteristics required for protection of semiconductor devices such as low energy let-through (l2t), low peak currents (lPEAK), low arc voltage and high heat dissipation. Unlike general industrial fuses, high-speed fuses do not have intentional time-delay features.

Round-body bolted style high-speed fuses (L15, L25, L50, L60 L70, L75 series) are the most common in North America for protecting power semiconductor devices. Square Body high-speed fuses (PSR Series) are made with a premium grade ceramic body, silver plated copper terminals, high grade quartz silica filler, and an operating mechanism containing 99.9% pure silver elements. The ceramic body has better heat withstand capabilities and offers higher resistance to arcing compared to the round-body melamine material.

The PSR Series High-Speed Square Body Fuses are specially designed for protection of power semiconductor devices such as rectifiers, TRIACs, IGBTs, SCRs, MOSFETs and other solid-state devices that are typically designed into power conversion and power conditioning equipment. Variable frequency drives, inverters, UPS, rectifiers and soft-starters are examples of typical equipment designed with sensitive power semiconductor devices that cannot withstand any line surge or overcurrent conditions and require high-speed protection. Also available are cylindrical or ferrule style high-speed fuses that are preferred thanks to their compact size and ability to be mounted directly to printed circuit boards. For more information see Littelfuse High-Speed Fuses at TTI.
