Cornell Dubilier Type MLSH Hermetic Slimpack Capacitor

Cornell Dubilier Type MLSH Hermetic Slimpack

Cornell Dubilier offers the Type MLSH Hermetic Slimpack. The world’s only hermetic aluminum electrolytic capacitor with glass-to-metal seal. Type MLSH has extraordinary long life and rugged construction for the most demanding power electronics applications. Type MLSH has superior capacitance retention compared to axial wet tantalum capacitors at -55 °C. Packaged in a robust stainless steel case capable of withstanding 80g’s, it replaces 3 or more axial wet tantalum capacitors in parallel. Unlike wet tantalums that require voltage derating at temperatures above 85 °C, type MLSH capacitors are rated for full operating voltage at 125 °C and tested to 5000 hrs at rated voltage and temperature.

Features

  • Hermetically sealed aluminum electrolytic (no dry-out)
  • 100% tested per MIL-STD-883, Method 1014.2
  • High capacitance retention at low temperature
  • 80 G Vibration
  • 125 °C maximum operating temperature (no derating required)
  • Lighter than equivalent wet tantalum
  • 1.5 V reverse voltage
  • DC life test to 5000 hrs

This TTI Tech Specs video for CDE’s Type MLSH Slimpack Capacitors explains that they are hermetically sealed aluminum electrolytic capacitors that do just that. Packaged in a stainless steel case that withstands 80 gs and has a glass-to-metal seal to keep the capacitor from drying out to give them a long service life.

You’ve heard the saying, “Less is more.” Sometimes that’s true, like a capacitor with less weight, taking less space, at a lower price that gives you better performance and greater reliability than competitive technologies. CDE’s Type MLSH Slimpack capacitors are hermetically sealed aluminum electrolytic capacitors that do just that. They’re packaged in a stainless steel case, which not only looks awesome, but withstands 80 gs and has a glass-to-metal seal to keep the capacitor from drying out to give them a long service life. In fact, they’re tested to 5000 hours at 125°C at their full rated voltage.

Type MLSH caps are available up to 3200 µF and can replace three or more wet tantalum caps in parallel due to their superior capacitance retention at low temperatures, especially at -55 °C. You can use Type MLSH caps at up to 125°C without voltage de-rating, unlike wet tantalums which de-rate starting at 85 °C. Their superb performance over the full temp range allows for fewer components to be used, resulting in smaller size, less weight and improved system reliability, making them perfect for military and aerospace applications.
