PROFINET* is the open industrial Ethernet protocol for advanced manufacturing and automation. Industrial-control applications require complex networks with high data-rates and time-sensitive devices whilst harsh environments on the plant floor create vibration, heat and other hazards. Ethernet technology provides customers with the opportunity to control information, configuration, diagnostics, safety, synchronization and motion all on the same network, whilst having the ability to seamlessly connect to their information and enterprise systems. Molex PROFINET solutions meet the 3 main challenges posed by industrial Ethernet applications: determinism, robustness and integration. Products include Software Development Kits (SDKs), a customizable engineering tool, diagnostic tools, PROFINET certified cordsets, I/O modules, PC and PLC interfaces, gateways and switches.
Molex PROFINET SDKs allow sensor, actuator and PLC manufacturers to efficiently integrate PROFINET into their products. Applications include supervisory HMI messaging, real-time control, bridging networks and devices, physical connections in harsh environments and I/O communications. IO-Controller(Master) and IO-Device(Slave) PROFINET SDKs can be implemented without new hardware design and have advanced features including media and system redundancy. SDK's allow the user to build products that successfully run through the PI* certification process. Molex can provide SDK training courses, hardware and software engineering development support and technical support through the Competence Center. Molex Engineers are actively involved in the PROFINET specification process.
Compact, high-performance network interface cards (NICs) enable intelligent devices like personal computers, programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and field devices (input/output, drives) to exchange information through an industrial network as IO-Controllers(Masters) or IO-Devices(Slaves). NICs are ideal for use in real-time control, data-acquisition and monitoring applications.
