The Medium VDC series are multilayer Ceramic construction and are not polarized (unlike tantalum and electrolytic caps). In bypass and de-coupling applications you may be able to use a ceramic capacitor with 1/2 to 1/5 of the capacitance value required by a tantalum or electrolytic cap. Used in DC-DC converter for filtering, primary/secondary diode snubbers, switching snubber, primary/secondary isolation capacitors, and as a smoothing capacitor. Capacitance range is 10 to 10,000 pF for U2J, 100 to 1000 pF for C0G and 220 pF to 1 uF in X7R. (Note min/max cap values are dependent on working voltage)

Available in three temperature coefficients:

  • 5C: C0G 0 +/- 30ppm/℃ (-55 to 125°C) (5% Capacitance tolerance (J))
  • 7U: U2J -750+/-120ppm/℃ (-55 to 125°C) (5% Capacitance tolerance (J))
  • R7: X7R -55 - +125℃ +\- 15% change over that range (10% Capacitance tolerance (K)) 

Working voltages and DWV (% of rated VDC):

  • 250 VDC - 200%
  • 630 VDC - 150%
  • 1K VDC, 2K VDC - 120%
  • DC3.15kV - 4095 VDC
