The ML8540WD is a medium-resolution (approximately 2,000 pixels) infrared image sensor that allows non-contact temperature measurement of an object and easy obtainment of thermal images. The ML8540WD receives infrared rays from an object at 48x47 (2,256) pixel resolutions, converts them into voltage through a thermopile, and selects pixels in accordance with external CPU clocks to output signals. The built-in op-amp circuit amplifies the infinitesimal voltage of the thermopile for conventional output signal level. Furthermore, the temperature sensor circuit is used to output a temperature-compensated signal by measuring the chip temperature.

LAPIS Semiconductor developed the UV sensor (ML8511) to detect ultra-violet rays with Si (Silicon) device using the original SOI (silicon on insulator) technology. The ML8511 measures the amount of ultra-violet rays contained in sunlight, and it is used for equipment which displays the suntan by ultra-violet rays, guidance for UV skin care, etc. It is ideal for mobile computing devices, such as smart phones, and watches.
