Designs are always getting smaller. Either you need to fit in a thinner enclosure, or under a heatsink, or make room for proper airflow. This can make product selection seem like a game of limbo: how low can you go? Vishay’s T52 series of vPolyTan™ Polymer Surface Mount Chip Capacitors can go really low. Available in case sizes with a profile as low as 1.5mm, the capacitors are ideal for applications requiring large bulk capacitance such as SSDs, motherboards, docking stations, and more.

They’re designed without a lead-frame and use L-shaped face down terminations. T52 series capacitors are also 100% surge current tested and have very low ESR. Capacitance values range from 47 to 470 microfarads with a 20% tolerance, with voltage ratings from 10 to 35 volts DC and a specified operating temperature of negative 55 to positive 105 degrees Celsius.
