Connector Industry Surpasses $50 Billion in Sales
Connector industry sales grew to $52.9 billion in 2014. In the 35 years that Bishop has tracked the industry, this is the first time that the industry has gone above this demarcation point.
As can be seen in the following chart, industry sales have grown more than six-fold since 1980. This is a compound annual growth rate of 5.3% over that timeframe.
Undoubtedly, the industry would have surpassed this level prior to now if not for the recession that began in 2008 which caused the industry to contract 22% in that one year. 2010, however, brought the industry back up to the 2008 sales level and 2012 was only a minor setback.
